Stop Donating to the Homeless
No example is perfect, but there are always things we can learn from other changemakers across the country. Here are some things we can learn from this example:
• They highlighted a common explanation, belief, or way of thinking of addressing homelessness (Charity) that serves as barriers to their case and pivoted around towards a more constructive narrative about the issue at hand (Investment).
• They tapped into the part of their audience’s sense of agency, choice, and concentration by grabbing attention in a creative or unexpecting way.
• They centered the responsibility to address the issue at the hands of the bystander (the investors) rather than the government or other institutions.
